Classes for small groups

The over dyed damask napkin comes in many colors—blue, pink, green coral, nickel, fuchsia, yellow, and purple. It is stenciled with oil stick paint, which needs to dry 24 hours before adding the other embellishments.

Over dyed lace, dyed doilies, buttons, beads, ribbon and batik leaves and circles are the embellishments, which were added to the doily shown below.

I would be happy to teach classes for your guild, shop, or sewing expo.

Would you like me to teach a class using my patterns and kits?  I will do it for a guild or a sewing group or a quilt or craft shop.  Here are some pictures of a class I taught to a guild.

About Lorna Maxwell  Owner of Plumberry House Creations

Yes, we live in what most people would call a purple house. The paint color is plumberry and so, the name of my business - Plumberry House Creations. As, you can guess I love color and use it freely.

I am a retired school nurse and my husband, Don is a retired police officer. We have three children and four grandchildren. We have lived in the Richland Center area all our lives. Richland Center is a town of about 5,000 people, located between La Crosse and Madison Wisconsin with beautiful hills and farm land.

I have enjoyed crafts and sewing since 4 H in elementary school. I started sewing with a sewing machine in high school and made many clothing items. I enjoy embroidery, crewel, counted cross stitch, collecting buttons, and quilting.

About ten years ago, I did my first project with wool. I found the felted wool was easy to work with and the texture and colors gave each project a pleasant warmth. I am now dyeing new and recycled wool for myself and to sell. It’s always a surprise when it comes out of the water bath because each wool fabric takes the dye differently and the over dying adds another layer of color.

The patterns I have designed use the over dyed wool and are embellished with wool roving, beads, buttons and stitching with #8 or #12 Pearl Cotton. My favorite stitch is the blanket stitch, but other stitches such as the outline stitch, the daisy stitch, the feather stitch and the stem stitch are also used. My projects are small and can be taken along when you are on the go.

I teach classes for guilds or quilt shops or any group that requests them.
